Lucy Ann Wall
Lucy Ann Wall was born on 18 November 1846 in Surry County, North Carolina, the daughter of Maston Wall and Rebecca Barr. On 6 November 1864, at seventeen, she married Henry Thomas Loggins, a soldier of the 21st North Carolina then in his fourth year of war. They raised five children, went to Kentucky for a few years in the 1870s, and came home to Forsyth County, where Tom died in 1907.
In her last years she lived with her youngest daughter, Nellie McGee, at Thomasville in Davidson County, disabled for ten years, as the doctor put it. She died there at four in the afternoon of 29 August 1931 of a cerebral hemorrhage, aged eighty-four years, nine months and eleven days, and was carried back to Macedonia Baptist Church at Tobaccoville on 31 August to lie beside her husband. Her tall stone reads "Lucy A. Wall, wife of H. T. Loggins," gives her dates to the day, and ends: "A tender mother and a faithful friend."
