Lydia Loomis
Lydia Loomis was born at Windsor in Connecticut on 15 April 1686. She was a daughter of Deacon Joseph Loomis and Hannah Marsh, and one of seven children all born at Windsor. Her twin elder sisters Ann and Hannah were born in January 1678/9, her sister Grace in March 1684/5, and her sister Sarah in 1693. She had a brother Joseph, called Captain Joseph in later life.
Her father died in 1699, when she was thirteen. Her mother survived him.
She married Jonathan Lyman of Lebanon, a farmer whose father had brought the family down from Northampton in 1696. Her sister Grace also settled at Lebanon, marrying Capt. John Webster there in 1709 as his second wife. Lydia's first child, a son Jonathan, was born in September 1708 and died young. Her daughter Lydia was born on 23 November 1709. Eleven more children followed over the next twenty two years, the last, Anna, in January 1731. Among them were twins, Jacob and Rachel, born on 4 May 1721.
In 1727 her daughter Lydia married Thomas Webster, the son of Grace's husband by his first wife.
Her husband died at Lebanon in August 1753. She lived on as a widow for more than twenty years and died on 10 July 1775, in her ninetieth year.
