Maria Barbara Carduck
Daughter of Jan Carduc and Maria Elisabeth Notermans of Beek, born about 1748 by her recorded ages, or in February 1753 if a Beek baptism of that year is hers. She appears first as a witness at her brother's wedding: on 11 February 1777, in the church at Schinnen, Gerardus Carduc married Maria Agnes Offermans under a dispensation from the bishop of Roermond releasing them from two of the three banns, and the priest closed the entry with the witnesses present, Petro Carduc, Maria Barbara Carduc, et Martino Offermans. She was in her twenties and not yet married herself.
She married Jan Tummers of Munstergeleen at Schinnen, a fact recorded not in any marriage register but in the margin of her daughter's baptism in 1783, where the clerk noted gehuwd te schinnen. Five of their children are recorded at Munstergeleen between 1783 and 1794, and her own family stood godparent at nearly all of them, her brother Gerardus at the first and her sister Maria Ida at the third.
Her husband died in 1812 and she was a widow for twenty-three years. She was still living in 1828, when her youngest daughter married at Beek and the act gave her age as eighty. She died at Munstergeleen on 21 March 1835, her age given as eighty-seven, five weeks after her son-in-law Jan Peter Derrez and four weeks before her own sister Marie Joanne, who died at Doenrade in a different registration district and whose act names the same two parents.
