Maria Ida Tummers
Baptised at Munstergeleen on 23 September 1788, daughter of Jan Tummers and Maria Barbara Carduck, with her aunt Maria Ida Carduck named as godmother and an Elisabeth Notermans, very probably her own grandmother, standing in for her at the font.
She was married twice. The first husband was Johan Jacob Creins, and the only trace of that marriage is a daughter, Marie Barbara Crins, born at Munstergeleen on 10 June 1810 and named for her grandmother. Creins was dead within five years. On 13 November 1815, aged twenty-seven, she married Jan Peter Derrez, a day labourer of forty-eight who was himself a widower, and the marriage record notes both facts in a single clipped line: the bridegroom widower of Maria Elisabeth Daniels, the bride widow of Johan Jacob Creins.
That second marriage lasted twenty years and produced at least three children, the youngest of them Jan Antoon in 1832. Widowed again in February 1835, she lived on at Munstergeleen another quarter century and died there on 3 January 1860, aged seventy-one. Her death act names her parents, and so does her marriage act forty-five years earlier.
