Marion L. W. Rosario
Marion L. W. Rosario was born about 1870, the daughter of Joseph S. Rosario and Sarah M. Batting. On 22 February 1892, aged 21, she married Casper L. Himes in Brooklyn. Their son Robert Harrison Himes was born there on 27 October 1892, when she was 22. Three more children followed: Marion in 1900, Reginald Roosevelt in 1903 and Laura May in 1905.
Casper was in the hotel business in Brooklyn. In 1906 the family moved out to Lynbrook on Long Island, where he kept the Cozy Corner Hotel at the Five Corners and later a second hotel beside the railroad on Atlantic Avenue. They lived at 123 Atlantic Avenue.
On Monday 21 February 1927 Marion and Casper celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary at home, with all five children and friends from as far as Brooklyn and Cedarhurst. Three weeks later, on 13 March 1927, Casper died in the Nassau County Hospital. His death notice called him the "beloved husband of Marion Rosario Himes." The funeral was held in their house on Atlantic Avenue.
