Marretjen Westvaal was baptized at the Dutch church in Kingston, Ulster County, New York, in August 1685. The printed register does not give the day. Her parents were entered as "Johannes Westvaal, Maretie Cool," who had married at Kingston in January 1683. Her sponsors were Claas Westpaal and Elsie Westvaal, of her father's family.

She was the only Marretje of that couple in the register, and she was about twenty-one when her first child was baptized in 1706. So she is very probably the Marretjen who married Cornelis van Kuykendaal. The 1919 Kuykendall history had named the same parents. Their marriage entry is not in the Kingston register.

She is named as mother at the Kingston baptisms of their children Leur (1706), Margriet (1710), Marretjen (1712) and Abraham (1719). In 1706 the clerk wrote her name Marytie Westphalen. Her family and her husband's married into each other more than once: three of Cornelis's brothers and sisters married Westvaals. Her dates of death are not known.
