Martha Park
Martha Park was a daughter of Deacon William Park of Roxbury, Massachusetts. The Newton history of 1854 gives her birth as 28 August 1639; a compiled work of 1907 gives 2 March 1642.
She married Isaac Williams of Roxbury, born in 1638. About 1660 her father bought a farm for the couple in the west part of Cambridge Village, which became Newton. It was the old Shepard tract on the Charles River, taken at an appraisal of £150.
She bore eight children: Isaac in December 1661, Martha in 1663, William in 1665, John in 1667, Eleazer in 1669, Hannah in 1671, Elizabeth, and Thomas in December 1673. She died on 24 October 1674, ten months after her last child. Her husband married again and had four more children by his second wife, Judith.
Her children did not forget where the farm came from. When their father tried to leave it to their half-brother Ephraim, they told the Judge of Probate that the lands of their grandfather William Park "were never so alienated from him, as to cut off their descent to them". They won.
