Their children at home were Nancy, Jackson, Meranda, Algia, Willie, Lidia J. and Allen. By 1920 they were in the first civil district of Cocke County, Tennessee, where Homer and Flint had joined the family. Their daughter Miranda married Charles Wright Fuller of South Carolina about 1921 and moved to the mill country of Gaston County, North Carolina.
Their son Homer Horace was born in Cocke County on 9 September 1917. Their eldest daughter, Myrtle, died at her home on Fines Creek in March 1950, aged 48, and her obituary named Mary and George as her parents.
In 1940 Mary and George were in Clyde township, Haywood County, with their sons Homer and Ray, and in 1950 they were back in Fines Creek with Ray. George died at their home on Waynesville RFD 3 on 1 January 1958, after a long illness. His obituary named her first among his survivors, as Mrs. Mary Alice McGaha Cagle, followed by five sons and three daughters.
Mary lived thirteen years as a widow. She died at Canton, Haywood County, on 7 January 1971, a week after her 95th birthday. She is buried in the Robert Newton Rogers Cemetery at Fines Creek, where her son Homer was buried in 1980.
