Mary Champion
Mary Champion was born at Saybrook, Connecticut, in 1651, according to a Champion genealogy printed in 1891. She was the second of the six children of Henry Champion and his first wife, whose name is not known. Her sisters and brothers were Sarah, Stephen, who died a child in 1660, Henry, Thomas and Rachel.
On 22 February 1676 she married Aaron Huntley at Lyme. Her husband was a son of John Huntley of Boston and Lyme and had served as a soldier in King Philip's War. They had eight children between 1677 and 1691: John, Elizabeth, Aaron, Daniel, Mary, Jane, David and Solomon.
Her father died about 1708, leaving a second wife, Deborah. On 26 April 1709 his heirs settled with the widow. The agreement names "Aron Huntly in behalfe of himself & wife" among them. In it the heirs call Henry Champion "our father". The heirs agreed to pay the fourteen pounds of debts contracted before Deborah married him, and she gave up her claim to his lands.
Mary died at Lyme on 10 December 1732. The Lyme records give her age as eighty-four, which would put her birth about 1648 rather than 1651. Her husband outlived her by thirteen years.
