Mary Farnum
Mary Farnum was seven when she sailed from London in the James in July 1635. The passenger list enters her family as "Barber Ralph Farman 32, Alice Farman 28, Mary Farman 7, Tho: Farman 4, Ralph Farman 2." She was born about 1628.
The family settled at Andover. She married Daniel Poor at Boston on 20 October 1650, at about twenty two, and bore eleven children at Andover over the next twenty years.
Her husband's will left her the house, the household stuff, half the land, and every animal on the place. It trusted her to portion the two youngest girls herself, "confiding in my sd wife that she will deal by them as well as she hath by her other daughters." That is a man handing his widow the running of an estate rather than a third of it.
The same will calls John Farnum his brother-in-law. Her brother Thomas died at Andover in 1686, and her brother Ralph married there in 1658. Her death is not in the Andover book.
