East Hampton NY
Father: John Green
Mother: Ruth Mitchelson
Children include Deacon

Mary Green was born at Cambridge, Massachusetts, the youngest daughter of John Green and Ruth Mitchelson. Her father was a tailor and, from 1681, Marshal-General of the colony. Lucius Paige's History of Cambridge (1877) and An Account of Percival and Ellen Green (1876) both place her in that family. Her birth was not recorded. The 1876 account suggests she was born before her brother Mitchelson, who arrived in March 1681. She was one of fourteen children.

Her father died in March 1691, and her mother married Samuel Champney. In February 1696 her brother Edward, a mariner, made his will on board the ship Friendship. He left money to his mother and clothes to his brothers. The rest of £140 was to be divided between his brothers Jonathan and Joseph "and my Sister Mary Green and she is to have a Duble porshon." He added: "the Small things that is not Willd I give to my Sister Mary Green."

On 27 October 1701 she married the Rev. Nathaniel Huntting. He had come from Boston to preach at East Hampton on Long Island in 1696 and was ordained there in 1699. Her brother Joseph, then minister of Salem Village, wrote in his diary: "Sister Mary Green marryed to Mr. Hunting." The East Hampton town account remembers her as "Mary Green of Boston," the town her husband came from.

At East Hampton she had ten children. Six grew up: Nathaniel, Edward, Samuel, Jonathan, a second Mary, and John. Her son Deacon John Huntting was the father of Clemens Huntting, who married Jacob Sherrill.

In 1751 she opened the minister's house on Main Street as a public house. Her husband died on 21 September 1753. The house stayed in the family for nine generations and still stands as the Huntting Inn. The date of her death is not recorded.
