Mary Kenyon was born on 30 June 1802 and died on 13 September 1867. She is buried at Union Cemetery in Manchester Township, Wayne County, Pennsylvania, under a stone that reads only "Wife of Joshua Burdick."

The stone gives no maiden name, and no marriage record for the couple has been found in Rhode Island or Connecticut. Her name comes from her daughter. When Ruth Burdick Layton died in Damascus Township in March 1921, her son Earl C. Layton answered the questions on her Pennsylvania death certificate, and he gave her mother as Mary Kenyon.

The same certificate puts the birth of both of Ruth's parents in Connecticut. The 1850 census, taken while Mary was living, says Rhode Island for both. Joshua was born at Hopkinton, Rhode Island, and the family was in Connecticut by about 1827, so the certificate may be reporting where the family had lived rather than where Mary was born.

She raised at least four daughters in Manchester Township, Esther, Ruth, Mary and Louisa, all born in Pennsylvania between 1832 and 1840.
