Mary Lane
Mary Lane married three times. Her first husband was Joseph Long, and she had two sons by him, Joseph and Thomas. Her second was Joseph Farnsworth of Dorchester, Massachusetts. His will, made on 2 January 1659, spoke of his wife Mary and "her two children by a former husband, viz., Joseph Long and Thomas Long." She had a son by Farnsworth, Samuel, and was the executrix of his will.
Her third husband was John Wilcox, a widower of Hartford, Connecticut, who was living at Dorchester when they married. In April 1661 "John Wilcox, of D., and Mary his wife, executrix of the will of Joseph Farnsworth" sold land to William Pond. In 1666 her son Thomas married John's daughter Sarah. The couple moved to Middletown, Connecticut, and she also kept a house at Hartford.
She died at Middletown in 1671. Her will, dated 3 April 1671, was "declared by word of mouth" and witnessed by John Hall and Anne Hall. In September her husband told the court that he had given her leave to make it, since a wife's goods belonged in law to her husband.
