Maud (Jeckles) Haburne
Wife of Ralph Haburne of Cottingham in the East Riding of Yorkshire, married there on 2 December 1593, when the register entered the pair as Radulphus Habrone & Matilda Jecles.
She had five children at Cottingham over the following twelve years: George in December 1594, Mark in October 1597, Anna in April 1600, Jane in October 1602 and Isabella in October 1605. Jane married Thomas Grant in the same church in September 1624 and their daughter Hannah, born there in 1631, married Edward Hazen at Rowley in Massachusetts nineteen years later.
Her last months were bad ones. Her grandson John was buried in December 1622, her eldest son George in February 1622/3 and his little daughter Anna the day after him, and she was buried on 5 May 1623, ten weeks later, entered as Magdalena Haberne. Her husband remarried two years after that. Nothing is recorded of her birth, her age or her family, and the surname Jeckles appears only in her marriage entry.
