Médéric Boissonneault
Médéric Boissonneault was born in Quebec about 1849. He was probably the Modeste Médéric Boissonneau baptized on 26 March 1849 at Saint-Édouard in Napierville County, the son of Noël Boissonneau and Flavie Gauthier dit St-Germain. In 1871 a Médéric Boissonneau of twenty-two, a Catholic, was living in the house of Noël Boissonneau, fifty-seven, at Saint-Michel in Napierville County, with eight younger Boissonneaus. Napierville County is flat farm country south of Montreal, running down to the New York line.
On 12 October 1875 Médéric married Olivine Perras in Quebec. Their first daughter, Marie Frasile, was baptized at Saint-Michel-de-Napierville on 23 September 1876.
Like thousands of Quebec families of the 1870s, they went south for a time to the New England mill towns. Their daughter Marie Annie Delia was born at Manchester, New Hampshire, on 9 September 1878. By 1881 they were back at Saint-Michel, where Marie Ernestine was baptized on 20 January 1881.
The next children were baptized at Saint-Patrice in Sherrington, the parish next door: Alfred on 5 January 1883, Marie Hélène on 7 January 1885, William on 2 July 1887 and Marie Irène on 21 June 1889. A son, Freeman Ephraim, followed in 1892.
In Vermont the family name was written Bussino. By the 1910s several of the children were in Rutland County, where Fred farmed at Mount Holly and Will married in 1915. Médéric died in 1923. He and Olivine are buried under one stone at St. Ann's, the Catholic church at Mooers Forks in Clinton County, New York, a few miles south of the Quebec line. Olivine's last home was a house, barn and ten acres on the Woods Falls Road in the town of Mooers.
