Nancy Jane Hesson married Jasper Newton Dailey on 28 December 1884 at Greenfield Township in Gallia County, Ohio, and the return has her at eighteen and him at twenty one.
She was not eighteen. Her gravestone at Barker Ridge gives her birth as 22 July 1852, her death return of 1935 makes her eighty two, which is exactly right for a woman born that July and dead the following June, and the two censuses she appears in put her four years younger again, at fifty four in 1910 and sixty four in 1920. Every source she gave an answer to is short, and the shortest by far is the one where she was standing next to a man ten years younger than she was.
She raised six children in Ohio and then Cabell County: Emmit Newton, David W., James Curtis, Harry, Vinson C. and Ethel Jane. Jasper died in 1929. She died on 14 June 1935 and is buried beside him at Barker Ridge Cemetery in Cabell County.
