Nina Belle Niles
Born May 4, 1884 in Madison County, New York, at Georgetown or Randallsville, daughter of Louis Sherrill Niles and Anna Stewart. She went by Belle. In 1900 she and her sisters Mable and Genevieve were living with their mother Anna, their father already gone west.
She was teaching school at Georgetown when she married Zar Benedict Sr. in July 1909. They farmed at Georgetown and raised four children there: Winifred, Marie, Edwin Jeril and Zar Jr. She was a member and treasurer of the Georgetown Baptist Church and belonged to the Women's Christian Temperance Union. When Zar registered for the draft in 1942 she was the person named as always knowing where he could be found.
Zar died in February 1958, and about a year later Belle moved to 55 West Main Street in Norwich, Chenango County. She died at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich on June 2, 1961, after a long illness, aged seventy-seven. Her funeral was held at the Georgetown Baptist Church, and she was buried at Georgetown.
