Noah Dean Williams
Noah Dean Williams was born on 10 July 1867 in Clay County, Illinois. His father, George W. Williams, was a Missourian, and his mother was from Illinois. In 1870 the family was at Clay City.
By 1880 they had moved west to Kansas. That year the census found George Williams, 53, in Stohrville Township, Harper County, on the Kansas side of the Oklahoma line. With him were Amanda, 16, the twins Falander and Leander, 10, and Noah, 13, at home. The Kansas census of 1885 still found Noah in Harper County.
He married Mary Evelyn, born in 1869. Their children came over the next eighteen years: Georgia in 1892, Fred in 1893, Sidney in 1896, Ned in 1898, Noah James, called Joll, in 1900, an infant who died in 1903, Katherine in 1904, Edith in 1906, Richard Lee, and Marybelle in 1910.
The family went south into Oklahoma. In 1910 they were farming in Deer Creek Township, Custer County, near the town of Thomas, where Marybelle was born that October. In 1920 Noah and Mary E. were in Ochiltree County, at the top of the Texas Panhandle, with Edith, Noah J., Katherine, Richard L., Ned and Marybelle. By 1930 they were at Watonga, in Blaine County, Oklahoma, with Richard and their married daughter Edith Zimmerman. Marybelle had married Jamie A. Peck of Watonga in 1927.
Mary Evelyn died in October 1942 at Walsenburg, Colorado. In 1943 Noah married again. His second wife was Lora Leona Culbertson, who had been married to a Cain. Noah died on 8 January 1947 at Hot Springs, San Miguel County, New Mexico, aged 79. He was brought home to Watonga and buried in the IOOF Cemetery beside Mary. His stone reads FATHER, NOAH D., 1867, 1947, with the scimitar and crescent of the Shriners between the years.
