Paul Bunk Barnett was born on 29 January 1908 at Salem, the county seat of Fulton County, in the hills of north Arkansas. His parents' names are not known. On his gravestone he is simply P. B. Barnett.

By the spring of 1940 he had come to Washington County, Oklahoma, and married Agnes Christine Jackson, born Blalack, the former wife of Jesse Fillmore Jackson and seven years older than he was. The census of that year found them in Jackson Township with four of her Jackson daughters, Edith, Florence, Betty and Faye. Their only child together, Jackie Sue, was born at Bartlesville that June.

Agnes died at Bartlesville on 20 April 1984. Paul died at Ochelata on 28 August 1986, aged 78. They share a red granite stone at Ochelata Cemetery headed BARNETT, with AGNES C., 1901, 1984 on one side and P. B., 1908, 1986 on the other, and the word "Barnett" carved again in a small plaque between them. Their daughter Jackie and her husband Billy Joe Sires were later buried in the same cemetery.
