Pearl Frances Jones
Pearl Frances Jones was born on 13 January 1893 at Glencoe in Payne County, in what was then the Oklahoma Territory, the daughter of Thomas Jones, an Illinois-born farmer, and his wife Martha J. Chevalier, called Mattie, born at Melvern, Kansas. Her mother's father was a farmer from France and her mother's mother was born in Indiana. Her parents had married about 1892, a year before her birth, in the first years after the Territory was opened to settlement. In June 1900 the census taker for Pawnee and Rose Townships found the three of them together: Thomas, written James T., 45, Mattie, 33, and Pearl, seven. In 1913, at twenty, she married Everett Coleman Coombs, a Cowley County farmer six years her senior who had a first marriage behind him. Their first son Carl was born and died in 1914. Iris Pearl came on 13 September 1918 at Winfield, then Agnes Anita, and in 1933 a son, Junior, who did not live.
She died on 24 August 1944 at Wendell, Gooding County, Idaho, aged 51, and was brought home to Akron Cemetery in Fairview Township, Cowley County, Space D, Lot 131. Her daughter Iris, married to Carl Askins seven years by then, outlived her by 67 years.
