Pierre Burgy
Pierre Burgy lived at Logelheim, a village of the Haut-Rhin on the plain southeast of Colmar, in the canton of Neuf-Brisach. His wife was Marie Anne Lolle, as the clerk at Oberentzen wrote her name. Their daughter Françoise was born at Logelheim on 2 ventôse of the year VIII of the Republic, which was 21 February 1800.
Pierre died at Logelheim on 27 March 1814. Françoise was fourteen. The spring of 1814 was the end of Napoleon's empire, and Allied armies had crossed the Rhine into Alsace that winter; the record does not say what he died of.
Twelve years later Françoise married Jean Michel Hutzler at Oberentzen. For the marriage file the mayor of Logelheim certified her birth and her father's death, and the marriage act of 5 October 1826 names her as the lawful daughter "de feu Pierre Burgy, décédé audit Logelheim le vingt sept mars dix huit cent quatorze," of the late Pierre Burgy, who died at Logelheim on 27 March 1814, and of his surviving widow. When Pierre was born is not known.
