Rosie Roseanna Tims
Rosie Roseanna Tims was born about 1881 or 1882 in Towson County, Choctaw Nation. Her father was Vinson W. Tims, who died in October 1891, when she was about nine; the enrollment clerks wrote his name as Benson and as Vincent. Her mother was Emeline Steadman. She was the youngest daughter of a large family: her brothers included James Brown, Mitchell, John, Robert, Willie and Calvin, and her sister Betsy married a Thompson.
She was on the 1896 Choctaw roll as Rosa Tims. On 24 April 1899 her mother applied to enroll the family, and Rosanna, 18, was listed on her mother's card with her brothers Johnny and Calvin. On 7 September 1899 she married James Wilson, a full-blood Choctaw of Cedar County, before the county and probate judge Wesley Sherred.
Her first son, Islam, was born on 10 August 1900, with her mother as midwife. When she applied to enroll him she gave her age as eighteen. The Commission could not find a Rosey Wilson on its lists, and the matter was settled only after the notary at Doaksville explained that she had been registered as Rosey Ann Tims and married since. In October 1900 she was moved from her mother's card to her husband's.
Her children were born at Doaksville and in Wilson Township, Choctaw County, in a home where Choctaw was the language spoken: Islam, Arthur, Candace, Lizzie, Malinda, Daniel, Darius, Isabella and Clara. In 1910 she was Rosanna Wilson, with James and five children. She buried Arthur and Candace in 1918 and Daniel in 1919. She died in 1924, about forty-two years old, and is buried at Corinne Cemetery, Pushmataha County. Her stone reads ROSIE ROSEANNA (TIMS) WILSON, 1882, 1924. James followed her in 1963.
