Sallie Inez Thurman
Born on 24 July 1895 in Henry County, Georgia, the daughter of Charles R. Thurman and his wife Sarah. She is on her father's page in the 1900 census as Sally I. Thurman, a child of four with an older sister Victoria and two brothers, and again in 1910 at Brushy Knob in the same county, where the enumerator wrote her down as Sallie J.
She married Grady Puckett, of Conyers, and the Georgia county marriage books record them as Grady Puckett and Sallie Thurman. Seven children followed: Maggie Lou, Mary, Thelma Louise, Samuel Zack, Charles D., Bobby J. and Joe Henry, who died at two. The family kept to Henry County through the 1920s and 1930s and then moved a few miles over the line to Rex in Clayton County, where the census found them in 1940 and again in 1950.
Her husband died in 1958. She outlived him by twenty six years and died on 25 July 1984, the day after her eighty ninth birthday. She is buried at Stockbridge in Henry County.
