Sarah Hayden
Sarah Hayden was born at Braintree, Massachusetts, on 25 March 1668. The town clerk wrote "Sarah Hayden daughter of Samuel Hayden & Hanna his wiffe borne the 1 mo. 25, 1668".
She married John Wild of Braintree about 1690. No record of the marriage has been found. A 1914 family history, a 1940 genealogy of the Bass family and a Mayflower lineage worksheet all name John Wild's wife as Sarah Hayden. Her gravestone gives an age at death that fits this birth, which is the best support for it.
She and John had five children recorded at Braintree: John in 1691, Samuel in 1693, William in 1696, Jonathan in 1698 and Sarah in 1700.
The family belonged to the South Church of Braintree, the church of the town's middle precinct. When Samuel Niles became its minister in 1711, "Sarah Wild" was on his list of the women in full communion. Her husband did not join until 1718, three years after their eldest son.
She died on 29 January 1725, according to her gravestone as a 1914 family history quotes it, aged fifty-six years and eleven months. Samuel Niles entered her burial in his journal: "Mrs Wild after a long sickness buried Febry 1 1724". The year then began in March, so February 1724 was February 1725 by modern count.
