Sarah White
Sarah White, called Sally, was born in 1759, the daughter of Benjamin White, a planter on Sandy River in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Her brothers and sisters were Rachel, who married William Bennett; Elizabeth, called Patsy, who married Stovall Keesee; John W. White; and Mary, called Molly, who married John Pearce. Her father made his will in 1811 and left "Sally Parker wife of John Parker" one dollar "together with what I have heretofore given," the same bequest he made to each of his married children. The will was proved in September 1818.
In November 1779 she married John Parker in Culpeper County, Virginia. She bore him thirteen children over twenty-six years: Daniel, 1781; John Jr., 1783; Abigail, 1784; Mary Jane, 1785; Benjamin, 1788; Phebe, 1790; Isaac Duke, 1793; Joseph Allen, 1795; James William, 1797; Rachel, 1798; Nathaniel, 1799; Silas Mercer, 1804; and Susannah, 1807.
She followed her husband from Virginia to Elbert County, Georgia, about 1785, to Middle Tennessee in 1803, and to eastern Illinois about 1817. She died in Coles County, Illinois, in 1824. She did not live to see the move to Texas, where her husband and two of her sons were killed at Fort Parker in 1836.
