Thomas Münk
Thomas Münk was baptised at Seitingen on 3 April 1712. The entry reads "Thomas filius Francisci Münckh et Annae Mariae Distlerin", the son of Franciscus Münck and Anna Maria Distler. His godparents were Engelbert Traber and Maria Mutschlin, who had stood for his brother Petrus in 1709. The family lived at Oberflacht, a Catholic village in the Tuttlingen country of Württemberg. Oberflacht had no church of its own, so its children were baptised at Seitingen.
His father died on 28 April 1716, when Thomas was four. In October 1723 he and Petrus were confirmed together, entered as "Petrus et Thomas Francisci Münckh p: m:", the sons of the late Franciscus Münck. He was the only Thomas Münck confirmed at Oberflacht that year.
On 10 January 1740 he married Theresia Ilg of Seitingen in the parish church. The priest entered the groom as "honestus juvenis Thomas Munck de Oberflacht", a respectable young man. Both were unmarried. They were related in the fourth degree, which made them third cousins, and the marriage needed a dispensation first. He was twenty-seven and she was thirty.
Their son Matthäus was baptised on 11 September 1742, "filius Thomae Muenck et Theresiae Ilgin". A later hand wrote a death date in the margin, 27 May 1810, which is the date the Oberflacht family register gives for Matthäus Münk. In July 1747 the boy, then four, was confirmed at Oberflacht as "Mathias, filius Thomae Munck". A son Josephus was a witness at his brother's wedding in 1766.
A Theresia Ilgin of Oberflacht, a married woman, was buried on 1 March 1778. If she was his wife, Thomas outlived her. When he died is not known.
