Tresa Young

Ohio
Children include Levi

Tresa Young was born in Ohio and married Levi Fleming. Their son Levi E. Fleming was born on 26 May 1848 near Lynx, Adams County. He named her on two records of his own life: as Tiszah Young when he married Sarah M. Spears in Brown County in 1904, and as Tresa Young on his death certificate of 1934.

She was very probably the Mrs. Tirzah Grooms who died at West Union in August 1918, aged ninety-four, at the home of her granddaughter Mrs. George Bayless. Mrs. George Bayless was Addie Fleming, the eldest daughter of Levi E. Fleming. The paper said the old woman had been making her home with Addie "for many years" and was "survived by one son, somewhere in the West." A memorial written for her names her Tirzah Tressa Young Grooms, born on 11 June 1824 in Adams County, a daughter of William Young and Mahala Moore and the widow of John Grooms (1828 to 1912). It gives her death as 27 August 1918 at West Union and her burial in Ralston Cemetery; the paper gave the Odd Fellows cemetery. Her son Levi was alive and farming in Liberty Township in 1918, which the notice does not mention.
