Vincenc Krčmář
Vincenc Krčmář was the son of Vincenc Krčmář, a quarter-farmer of house number 13 at Lhotka, and of Anna Toman, the daughter of Josef Toman, a farmer of house number 35 at Klášterec nad Orlicí. Lhotka was a farming village in the parish of Klášterec, in the Zamberk district of eastern Bohemia, under the lordship of Žamberk. A quarter-farmer held a quarter of a full peasant farm: more than a cottager, much less than the big farmers of the village.
He married Marie Doleček, the daughter of Josef Doleček, the quarter-farmer of Lhotka no. 20, and of Barbora Švenda of Pastviny, and he took over house number 22. The priests wrote him down there as a quarter-farmer in 1833, 1839 and 1841, and as a farmer, rolník, in 1865. Their daughter Marie was born on 13 January 1833 and their son Vincenc on 6 May 1834. Maria followed on 1 December 1839 and Barbora in October 1841. Most of the children were delivered by the same midwife, Josefa Krčmář, the wife of a gardener at Klášterec no. 72.
By the end of 1839 both of his parents were dead. He himself died before October 1863: when his son Vincenc married Anežka Hulka of Německá Rybná that month, the priest called the groom the son of the late Vincenc Krčmář, familiant of Lhotka no. 22, and the son was the familiant of the house himself. The baptism of his granddaughter Anna there in February 1865 names him as her grandfather, a farmer of Lhotka no. 22. About a year later the young family left for America.
