William Fiske
He was the eldest son of Robert Fiske, a wheelwright, and Sibilla Gold, and was born about 1550, probably at Laxfield or Fressingfield in Suffolk. The family moved to St James, South Elmham, after Robert "fled for religion" in Queen Mary's reign.
He married Anna, daughter of Walter Austye of Tibenham, in Norfolk. She was the mother of his children, among them John, who was probably born about 1580. Anna was buried at St James on 13 February 1601. He married a second wife, Alice, who outlived him.
His father's will of 1590, proved in 1602, left him "my tenement called Hoves in the parish of St. James," charged with a payment to his sister Elizabeth Barnard, and in time the freehold lands as well.
He was later of Ditchingham, across the Waveney in Norfolk. He made his will on 25 November 1616, and it was proved on 17 May 1620. His son John married Anne Lawter, his own second cousin. John's children went to New England in 1637.
