William Jones Sr.
William Jones Sr. was a planter of Anne Arundel County, Maryland. He made his will on 31 May 1705, and it was proved on 4 August that year, so he died that summer.
To his wife Elizabeth he left "dwelling plantation and lands during life; to pass to son William at her decease." To "daus. Mary, wife of John Duvall, Jane, wife of Neal Clarke, and Ann, dau. of Charles Cheeney, and granddau. Mary Duvall" he left personal goods. To his "dau. Mary and Anthony Buddingfield her husband" he left the land they were living on, part of a tract called Johns Cabbin Ridge. His wife, his executrix, and his grandson William Trogden were to share the residue, whatever was left after the other bequests. The witnesses were Richard Duckett, John Starkey and John Powell.
His daughter Mary was the wife of Capt. John Duvall, a son of the Huguenot Mareen Duvall. "She added considerably to his estate," J. D. Warfield wrote of her in 1905. Warfield and the 1933 history call her Elizabeth Jones. The will names two daughters Mary, the wife of John Duvall and the wife of Anthony Buddingfield. A grandson named Trogden means another daughter had married a Trogden.
Whether his wife Elizabeth was the mother of all his children the will does not say.
