William Kerrich of Saxtead, in Suffolk, was born about 1450. He made his will on 24 July 1504, and it was proved on 24 September, so he died in the two months between.

"To a priest to say mass at Rome £2. To my son William Kerych a tenement in Saxsted, with lands, he finding his mother for life; and, if she like not to be at the finding of William, my son, she shall have one chamber and 13s. 4d. per year, with two keen and half my household stuff. To my daughter Margaret £3. 6s. 8d." To find someone was to keep them in food and lodging. Keen were kine, cows. His son William was the executor, and Peter Bedyngfield and Richard Bottom were the witnesses.

His wife outlived him. Her name is not in the will. His two children named there were William, born about 1480, and Margaret, born about 1482.

His son William was probably the William Kerrich of Saxtead who died in 1551/2. That man held a tenement in Saxtead and the lands with it, and his own son called them "my father's". A study of the family published in 1921 joins the two men on that ground.

The same study takes the family back one more step, and the step is a possibility only. John Kerych of Saxtead made his will on 20 April 1470: "To William Kerich, and after his decease to each of the sons of the said William, 6s. 8d. To Robert Kerrich, grandson of the said William, 13s. 4d. Executor: William Kerych of Saxsted." The study reads that older William, born about 1420 and alive in 1470 with sons and a grandson, as this man's father. It makes the grandson Robert a son of another son, born about 1445, and John of 1470 perhaps that older William's brother. No document names this William as anyone's son.
