Born 1605, England
Children include William

William Reade of Weymouth was born in England in 1605. The Reed family history of 1861 says he was supposed to be a son of William Reade and Lucy Henage. He is a different man from the William Reade who came in the Defence the same year and later farmed at Woburn.

In 1635 he sailed from Gravesend, in Kent, in the ship "Assurance de Lo," whose masters were Isaac Broomwell and George Persey. He settled at Weymouth, which had been made a plantation on 8 May 1635, when the Rev. Mr. Hall and twenty one families settled there. He was made a freeman on 2 September 1635. That gave him a vote in the affairs of the Massachusetts Bay colony.

In 1636 he bought a house and land from Zachary Bicknall for seven pounds, thirteen shillings and fourpence. That was the usual price of a homestead in those years. He represented Weymouth in the General Court in 1636 and 1638.

His wife's given name was probably Ivis. Their children were William, born in October 1639; Esther, born 8 May 1641; Thomas; John, born 1649; Mary, who married Thomas Dyer; and Margaret, who married John Vining and died on 6 May 1659.
