William Reedy
William Reedy was born in Iowa in January 1854. Both of his parents had been born in Indiana.
About 1876 he married Lillie Jewell, a Kansas girl about seven years younger. Her surname is given as Jewell or Jewel when three of their children married. They raised a large family in Marshall County, in northeastern Kansas on the Nebraska line.
In 1900 the Reedys were living in Waterville, Marshall County. William was 46. The census listed nine children at home: Thomas, 19, James, 17, Lillie, 15, Louise, 13, Alice, 11, Eva, 9, Arman, 7, Josie, 4, and Bertie, 2. On 28 August 1901 their daughter Lillie married Robert A. Hook in Marshall County.
Within the next decade the family moved more than two hundred miles west. In 1910 William, 56, and his wife Lily were living in Paradise Township, Rooks County, with Bert, Effie, Josie and Amon. Paradise Township lies on the Ellis County line, close to the Saline River farms of the Simpsons. By 1909 their daughter Eva had married Perry Commodore Simpson there.
