Aaron Fisk
Aaron Fisk was born at Holliston, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, on 20 March 1749, by the reckoning of the time 20 March 1748-9. The Holliston town clerk entered him as the son of Asa and Lois Fisk. His father was a farmer of Holliston who was styled a gentleman in his will.
On 18 February 1773, at Worcester, he married Tabitha Metcalf. She had been born at Holliston about 1752. They lived first at Templeton, Massachusetts, and then moved north to Chesterfield, New Hampshire, a hill town above the Connecticut River across from Brattleboro.
He served as a private in the Revolutionary War, as a memorial for him records.
Aaron and Tabitha had eleven children. Lavina was born on 27 October 1773, Asa on 19 April 1775 and Aaron on 23 June 1777. Then came Anson, Joseph in 1782, Abel in 1785, Elijah in 1789, Ezra in 1791, Levi in 1793, Lois in 1795 and Betsey in 1797. Lois died at Chesterfield in 1813, aged seventeen. Betsey married James A. Sheridan, a carpenter.
Tabitha died on 15 May 1818, aged 66. Her slate stone in the Center Cemetery at Chesterfield calls her "Mrs. Tabitha, wife of Mr. Aaron Fisk" and carries a verse that begins "Farewell dear partner here below."
Aaron lived nineteen more years. His son Aaron died in Vermont in 1822, long before him. Aaron Fisk died at Chesterfield on 3 March 1837, aged 87 years and 11 months, and lies beside Tabitha under a slate stone carved with a weeping willow and an urn.
