Aaron Fiske
Aaron Fiske was born on 23 June 1777 at Chesterfield, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, a son of Aaron Fisk and Tabitha Metcalf. On 11 February 1799, at Chesterfield, he married Abigail Chandler of Putney, Vermont, who had been born at Brimfield, Massachusetts, in 1778.
They lived first at Chesterfield, then crossed the Connecticut River into Vermont and went north, to Lunenburg and then Guildhall, two river towns in Essex County.
They had twelve children. Anson was born in 1801, Adeline in 1804, William in 1806, Henry in 1808 and George W. in 1812. Climena followed in 1814, Louisa in 1816, Marilla in 1818 and Mary, the youngest, on 13 July 1820 at Guildhall. A Mary and an Elijah born earlier died as small children.
Aaron died on 10 September 1822, aged 45. His daughter Adeline died the same year, at eighteen. He is buried in the Nellie Smart Cemetery, where one stone carries three names: AARON FISKE 1778-1822, ABAGAIL HIS WIFE 1778-1867, and ADELINE THEIR DAU. 1804-1822.
Abigail outlived him by more than forty years. Three of their daughters, Climena, Marilla and Mary, married and raised families at Danville, Vermont, two of them as wives of the Crane brothers James and Charles.
