Aaron Huntley was born at Boston on 15 April 1654, the son of John Huntley and his wife Jane. The Boston town record enters him as "Aaron of John & Jane Huntley born 15th April." His father was a cooper and a trader to Barbados.

The family moved to Roxbury, and on 27 October 1657 Aaron was baptised in the First Church there with his brother Moses and his sister Elizabeth. About 1661 they moved again, to Lyme on the Connecticut River. His mother died there before 1669.

His father died at Lyme on 16 November 1676. A month later the town book recorded the children's ages, and Aaron was twenty-two.

He had served in King Philip's War, the war of 1675 and 1676 between the New England colonies and the Wampanoag, Narragansett and Nipmuc peoples. He and Moses "were among the 180 men from Conn. who served as soldiers against the Indians and were among those who later drew Cedar Swamp lots as reward for service."

On 22 February 1676 he married Mary Champion, daughter of Henry Champion of Saybrook and Lyme. They had eight children at Lyme between 1677 and 1691: John, Elizabeth, Aaron, Daniel, Mary, Jane, David and Solomon. Solomon died in 1712 at twenty-one, a year and a half after his marriage, leaving one child.

In April 1709 Aaron signed for his wife in the settlement of her father's estate. The heirs agreed with Henry Champion's widow Deborah over the movable goods and the debts, and the agreement was signed "Aaron Huntly" with the others before a justice of the peace.

He held land at Lyme along Four Mile River and in Huntley Hollow, in what is now East Lyme. He gave land to his sons in his lifetime. Daniel had land from him on Four Mile River. In 1735 he deeded land to his son David and to David's two younger sons, Jonathan and Ezekiel. His son Aaron lived on land his father left him.

Mary died on 10 December 1732. Aaron made his will on 25 January 1741. It names his sons John and Aaron, his son Daniel, deceased, and the children of his dead sons. His daughters Mary and Jane are not in it. He died at Lyme on 24 May 1745, aged ninety-one.
