Ann Hallock
Ann Hallock was born at Burlington, Vermont, on Christmas Day 1805. Her parents were Content C. Hallock and his wife Lydia, whom later writers call Lydia Stevens. Her father's family Bible enters her as "Anna", born 25 December 1805, the sixth of nine children. Her brothers and sisters were Sophronia, two boys named Rufus, Lydia, Content, two girls named Rosamond, and George. The family lived at Richmond, ten miles up the Winooski River from Burlington, where her father was the town's collector of taxes.
She was brought to New York as a child. In December 1825 she married Harvey Noulton, and she bore five children in Lewis County, four daughters and a son. Her mother died in November 1831, when Ann was twenty five.
The family Bible and her son's memoir both give her Vermont birth and the town. Her husband's obituary puts her death in 1875; the Bible gives 18 February 1874. The memoir names her father in a single clause: "Ann Hallock, daughter of Content C."
She died at Turin on 18 February 1874. The Lewis County Democrat printed the notice a week later: "NOULTON. At Turin, Feb. 18th, Ann, wife of Harvey Noulton, Esq., aged 68 years." She is buried in the Turin cemetery under the stone she shares with Harvey.
