Anna Eichhorn
Anna Eichhorn was born on 11 September 1868 at Rio Medina, in Medina County, Texas. Her death certificate names her father as Charles Eichhorn and her mother as Mary Lamon, born in Texas. Her mother was Mary Josephine Lamon, the daughter of John Lamon, a former sheriff of Medina County, and Anna was her first child, born nine months after the wedding. Three younger brothers and sisters followed: Gustave, Josephine and Adolph.
She married Phillip E. Haass, a Medina County man born the same year. They farmed near Dunlay, where she kept house and raised eleven children between 1892 and 1910. One of them, Lorene, married Charles Fred Haass. Phillip died in April 1948.
Anna lived on at the farm, which her death certificate places off the Dunlay and Bury road. She died there on 10 November 1950, at 82, of hardening of the arteries and kidney disease. Her daughter, Mrs. Garteiser, gave the details. She was buried on 12 November beside Phillip in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Castroville, under a gray stone that reads "Mother Anna" and "Father Phillip."
