Benjamin Fillmore Patterson
Benjamin Fillmore Patterson was born on November 23, 1915 in St. Joseph, Missouri. His father, George Edward Patterson, was a printer who died of tuberculosis when Benjamin was four, leaving his mother Maude to raise him. In June 1917, when Benjamin was a baby, the family's address was 424 South 20th Street in St. Joseph.
He served in the armed forces in the Second World War. His draft card is the proof of it. On 24 September 1945 he registered with Local Board 11 in Harris County, Texas, on a card with a serial number beginning V. That series was issued to men who had been in uniform when their age group registered and who registered after their discharge. He gave his address as Route 1, Box 220, Fairbanks, Harris County. The person who would always know where he was was "Mrs. Eleanor Lena Patterson, Wife", at the same address. He was twenty nine and unemployed.
By 1950 he was in Houston working as a service manager, raising Patricia and Michael with Eleanor. He lived to 93. He died on November 24, 2008, a day after his birthday, and is buried at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery in Houston, Section 10, under the words "Beloved Husband Father and Grandfather".
