Elizabeth Riller Jones
Elizabeth Riller Jones was born in Alabama on 8 January 1882. Her father was John Henry Jones, an Alabama-born coal miner. His death certificate gives his wife as Riller Patterson, and Elizabeth carried Riller as her middle name.
The family followed the mines west. On 21 February 1898, at sixteen, Elizabeth married Lewis Howard Hulvey in the Choctaw Nation of Indian Territory. In June 1900 they were living in Township 5 North, Range 15 East, in the coal country of the Choctaw Nation. Elizabeth was entered as 20. Her first child, Charley, was one.
Her children were Charles Rock Hulvey (1899), Sarah Ethel (1902), who married a Wesley, and Grace Florence (1904), born at Gowen, a coal town in what became Latimer County. Grace married LeRoy L. Gragg in 1923 and died at McCurtain in 1948, at only 44. Stanley Franklin (1922) and Raymon H. (1923) are also given as the couple's sons.
Her father died in West Virginia in April 1929. His obituary named her as "Mrs. Elizabeth Hulvey, who also lives in Oklahoma."
Elizabeth died on 21 May 1955 at Shady Point, in Le Flore County, Oklahoma, aged 73. She is buried in the Shady Point Cemetery. Lewis lived two years more.
