Elizabeth Shedd

Born at Billerica in Middlesex County on 18 June 1703, a daughter of Nathan Shed, who farmed the Shed homestead on the Concord River there, and his wife Mary French.

She married late for her generation. In September 1735, at thirty two, she became the second wife of Nathaniel Boynton of Westford, a housewright and farmer who was town clerk there for many years. He was a widower with a house full of children: his first wife, Hannah Perham, had died on 16 September 1733, the day after giving birth to a daughter, and had left eight children of whom the youngest was a newborn and the eldest twelve. Elizabeth walked into that, and then had six children of her own between 1736 and 1746: Nathan, who died young, Mary, Abijah, a second Nathan, Amos, and Isaiah.

Amos, born 20 September 1744, married Mary Parker at Westford in January 1770 and took her over the Green Mountains to Plymouth in Windsor County, Vermont.

Nathaniel Boynton died at Pepperell somewhere between 1752 and 1759. On 15 August 1759 his widow married Thomas Heald of Westford. Her death is not known.
