Elizabeth, wife of William Ward, sailed with him from Hull in the first week of March 1774 in the ship Two Friends, bound for Nova Scotia. The customs list enters her as "Elizabeth Ward 22, His Wife", which puts her birth about 1751 or 1752. With them was their son Moses, eighteen months old. Their daughter Hannah was born on 2 November 1774, by the family memorials, within months of the landing.

Her maiden name is not recorded. Family memorials give it as Grant, and one of them adds: "there is some controversy as to whether or not Elizabeth's surname is 'Grant' or 'Flintoff'. There is little documentation." They give her birth as 1751, which agrees with the list.

The family lived first at Windsor and then at Beech Hill in Kings County, on a farm at the southern edge of the settled county. Eaton's History of Kings County gives her sons Moses, David, William, John, Joseph and Aaron. Memorials add the daughters Hannah, Sarah, Susannah and Rebeccah.

She died at Beech Hill in November 1841, on the 19th by one account and the 20th by her memorial, three years before her husband. A notice of her death attached to her memorial gives her age as ninety-six. The ship's list makes her about eighty-nine.
