Father: William Ward
Mother: Elizabeth Ward

Hannah Ward was born on 2 November 1774, by her memorial. Her parents, William and Elizabeth Ward, had sailed from Hull for Nova Scotia that spring in the ship Two Friends, with one child, Moses, eighteen months old. If the date is right, she was born within months of the landing. The family lived first at Windsor and then took up land at Beech Hill in Kings County.

Her place in the Ward family comes from memorials, not from a record. Eaton's History of Kings County prints the Ward sons and not the daughters. It does print Hannah, under her husband: "Nathan Schofield m. Hannah Ward." Her sisters Sarah, Susannah and Rebeccah, who married three Dodge brothers between 1810 and 1816, are placed in the same family on the same grounds.

She married Nathan Schofield at White Rock on 3 January 1793, two months after her eighteenth birthday. The Horton town book gives them thirteen children, from Ann in 1796 to Elijah in 1817. Their daughter Olive, born on 30 March 1800, married Jacob Britain Dodge after the death of his first wife, who was Hannah's younger sister Susannah. So Hannah's daughter brought up her sister's two orphaned girls.

Hannah died at Horton on 9 December 1850, at seventy-six. Nathan survived her by five years.
