Born 1926, Mount Ida, Arkansas
Died 1992
Father: Karel Sekavec
Mother: Dicie Avilla Standridge

Guy Sekavec was born on 22 July 1926 at Mount Ida, the county seat of Montgomery County in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas. His father Karel, called Charles, was a Bohemian-descended Kansan whose family had come to the mountains from Oklahoma; his mother Dicie Avilla Standridge belonged to one of the oldest families of the county, with a cemetery named for them. In 1930 the household at South Fork held Charles, Dicie, Guy, aged three, and his sister Deane. A sister Evelyn followed.

He went into the Army on 26 November 1944 at Camp Joseph T. Robinson, Little Rock, aged eighteen, and served through the end of the Second World War and again in Korea; his marker calls him Sgt US Army WWII Korea. In 1950 he was at Fayetteville, Arkansas.

He married Laura Lee Radke, thirteen years his junior, a Great Bend girl of Russian-German stock, and they made their home in Kansas. By 1968 they were at Wichita. He worked for Gates Learjet, the business-jet plant on the city's east side, until he retired. Their children were Charles, Shari, Mary and Anna. Laura died of cancer in February 1991 at Derby, aged 51.

Guy died on Saturday 5 December 1992, aged 66. The memorial service was at Hillside Funeral Home at 10:30 on the Wednesday morning, the day the Wichita Eagle printed his notice: "Sekavec, Guy, 66, retired Gates Learjet employee, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1992. Survivors: son, Charles of Wichita; daughters, Shari Griffin of Valparaiso, Ind., Mary Askin of Derby, Anna Londagin of Augusta; sisters, Dean Brakefield of Norman, Ark., Evelyn Oats of New Mexico; 10 grandchildren." He was taken home to Arkansas and buried among the Sekavecs and Standridges in Stanley-Standridge Cemetery at Mount Ida.
