Halvor Halvorsen Solberg
Halvor Halvorsen Solberg, of the Solberg farm in Drangedal in Telemark, the inland parish behind Kragerø. He is the father of the Marie Magdalene Solberg, born 1724, who married the Kragerø attorney and timber merchant Halvor Heuch.
He married twice. His first wife, Gjertrud Olsdatter, was a husmannsdatter, the daughter of a cottar, which is to say a marriage downward, and two children of that marriage grew up. His second wife was Johanne Maria Pedersdatter Hylle, daughter of Peder Simonsen Hylle, borgermester of Skien. A tradition attached to him says that he had served in the wars in Holstein and had made a vow about what he would do if he came home. The children named to him are Per Simen, Marcus Helmer, Gjertrud, Catharina Helmer and Maria Magdalene.
His own great grandfather was Eiliv Solberg, described in the same account as den styrtrike, the enormously rich, so the farm had money behind it for at least four generations. His daughters were married out well: of Maria Magdalene it was said that her mother skjøt virkelig gullfuglen, really shot the golden bird, in getting her the attorney Halvor Heuch.
