Harold Burnard Zinn
Harold Burnard Zinn was born at Reedsville, in Preston County, West Virginia, on 9 July 1916. He was called Pete. His memorial at Maplewood Cemetery names his parents as George Lanham Zinn, a Reedsville carpenter, and Mary Ida Smith. His older brothers and sisters were Edna May Zinn (1910-2004), later Mackey, George Mitchel "Mitch" Zinn (1912-1998) and Virginia Lucille Zinn (1915-1991), later Lemmons.
He married Sarah Catherine Morris of Kingwood, the daughter of Walter Crane Morris and Sarah Florence Davis. Their daughter Carolyn Lou was born at Reedsville about 1942. A second daughter, Catherine J. Zinn, later Burke, was born in 1945.
In the summer of 1959 Carolyn, at seventeen, asked to marry Phillip Delano Turner of Arthurdale. Harold and Sarah went to the county clerk together and gave their consent in person. The licence records it in one line: "Consent of Father and Mother in Person."
In July 1967 Harold's father died of lung cancer at St. Vincent Pallotti Hospital in Morgantown. Harold, of Reedsville, signed the death certificate as the informant. Harold died at Reedsville on 25 February 1993, aged 76. He is buried at Maplewood Cemetery in Kingwood, in Lot 24 of the old west section. His wife's parents, Walter and Sarah Florence Morris, lie in the same lot.
