Harry Arthur Waters

Harry Arthur Waters was born at Hartford, Connecticut, on 18 August 1883, the son of Henry B. Waters and Anna M. (Linton) Waters, both Connecticut-born. In 1900 he was sixteen and at home in Ward 7 of Hartford with his parents, his brother William and his sisters Mabel and Emma. His mother died in March 1909, the year he married.

His wife was Esther S. Bloomquist, born in Sweden in 1889 and six years his junior. They married in 1909 and their first child, Anna Elizabeth, was born that July. The census of 1910 found the three of them in Ward 7 of Hartford. The children kept coming for twenty years: Robert in 1910, Dorothy, Arlene, Helen, Eugene, Alice in 1919, Henry, Evelyn, Frances, and Donald about 1930, eleven in all. He registered for the draft in 1917 and answered the state's military census questionnaire the same year, and registered again in 1942, in the old men's registration, at 58. In 1940 he was in Ward 9 of Hartford with Esther and their daughter Helen still at home.

He died on 19 July 1946, aged 62, and was buried at Spring Grove Cemetery in Hartford. Esther outlived him by thirty-six years.
