Henry Heiberger
Henry Heiberger was born on 11 March 1852 in Pennsylvania. His mother, Susan Beck, came from Baden in southwest Germany. By 1860 the family had moved on to Sandusky, Ohio, and that summer Henry was eight, living there with Susan, a younger brother August, born in New Jersey, and two little sisters born in Ohio. A sister Kathryn was born at Sandusky that December.
He married Kate McNamara, born at Buffalo, New York, about 1875. Their children were George Franklin, born in 1880, Edward Joseph in 1882, Emma in 1884 and Jeanette, called Nettie, in 1886. In 1900 Henry was forty eight and living with Kate and the four children in the tenth ward of Sandusky. He told the census taker he had been married twenty five years.
In June 1902 his son Edward, only twenty, wanted to marry Anna Everett. Henry wrote his consent across the license affidavit: "I hereby consent to the marriage of my son Edward J. Heiberger to Anna Everett," and signed it.
Henry worked as a laborer all his life. On 2 April 1914 he collapsed in Perkins Township, just south of Sandusky, and died four hours later of a cerebral hemorrhage, with hardening of the arteries behind it. He was sixty two. He was buried in Oakland Cemetery on 6 April. Kate outlived him by eleven years and was buried in the same lot.
