John Hasson of Cadney
John Hasson of Cadney in Lincolnshire, entered in the parish register at his burial on 14 April 1591 and described in the bishop's transcript of that entry as Johannes Hazzon laborer. He was a son of Richard Hassand of Thorganby, who in his will of February 1543/4 left him a two year old filly, a blue coat, a doublet, a pair of hose and a shirt, and he was the brother John who received two sheep under the 1564 will of William Hasande of Cadney.
He married a woman named Elizabeth. Six of their children are entered at Cadney between 1573 and 1589, and two of them, Catherine and Ursula, were buried as infants; a third, a John, was baptized in April 1589 and buried the following March. The two who lived to have families were Richard, christened in March 1576/7, and Thomas, christened on 11 March 1580/1, and it was Thomas whose son Edward went to Massachusetts.
His widow did not stay one. She married Thomas Lodington at Cadney on 24 November 1594, buried him in October 1604, married Peter Grant there on 23 June 1605, and was buried as a widow on 5 February 1630/1, having outlived him by nearly forty years.
