Julia Hinton
Julia Hinton was born on 19 December 1880, a daughter of Benjamin Franklin Hinton and Sarah Elizabeth Wright of the Wesley Chapel community near Ruston, Louisiana. Her mother had been widowed once before: her first husband, Charles Mason Huey, left her with two children, Charley Huey and Dinka Huey, who grew up as Julia's half brother and sister.
Julia married Wesley Broadwell Lyles. They spent a few years farming in Texas, and her third child, Ruth, was born at Cameron, Milam County, in October 1910. Ruth's birth certificate gives her mother as Julia Hinton, a housewife born in Louisiana. By 1934 the family was back in the Wesley Chapel community, and Julia spent the rest of her life there. Their children were Paul Harris, Lesley Wesley, Ruth and Maurine Elizabeth.
Her mother lived to 95. When "Grandmother" Hinton died in May 1934, the Ruston Daily Leader named Julia among the daughters as "Mrs. Weslie Lyles of the Wesley Chapel community." Julia died on 24 August 1966, aged 85, a year after her husband, and is buried at Wesley Chapel. Her stone reads "Julia Hinton Lyles."
